Confirm before selecting someone
- Current accreditation: confirm the person or organization in the official VA search at the time you rely on the result.
- Availability and scope: ask whether they are accepting new clients and whether they handle your type and stage of matter.
- Organization: for a VSO representative, confirm which organization must be named on VA Form 21-22.
- Fees: VA states accredited VSO assistance on benefit claims is free; discuss any attorney or claims-agent fee arrangement directly before appointment.
- Appointment: a saved VMC profile is not a power of attorney and does not establish representation with VA.
